Vince Shiers – Managing Director, RQA Group

  • Speaker Bio:

    As Managing Director of the RQA Group, Vince Shiers has responsibility for the RQA business in EMEA and Asia Pacific Regions.  He has spent over 20 years providing expert consultancy and training services to the consumer products industry.  He was awarded a PhD in chemistry from the University of West of England and is a Chartered Chemist and a Professional Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

    Since joining RQA Europe in 2003 as Managing Director he has developed RQA’s network of specialist product recall consultants and is leader of the RQA product recall response team.  In early 2012 he was made Managing Director of RQA Group covering Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific where he has also developed the RQA network of Asian consultants and has recruited specialist personnel in that region.  He regularly advises companies during product recall incidents; has been an invited speaker on product recall at meetings around Europe; has acted as an expert witness on product recall at the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce and is a regular contributor on product recalls and crisis management on the BBC.

    In addition to the business management of the RQA Group, Vince has also developed many bespoke crisis management training courses and lead complex crisis incident simulations; some involving the emergency services.

    Product recalls can be very stressful and expensive and so knowing ways to avoid a recall or mitigate the impact should you have to recall, can be invaluable. In this talk we will cover key tips that help with the management of a product recall using RQA’s real-life experience of assisting in over a 1000 product incidents.  This will include identifying whether you need to recall, deciding who to tell and when to tell them, and what action needs to be taken.
