Speaker Bio:

John has worked in the food industry for 40 years working across all categories of food manufacture from chilled to frozen to ambient. He spent the majority of his career working for Mars Inc. latterly in a Quality and Food Safety European role.

John has worked in the herb and spice industry for the last 10 years as Technical Director of British Pepper and Spice. British Pepper and Spice are a leading processor and packer of herbs and spices in the UK, servicing retail brands, as well as the industrial and food service sectors. He has extensive experience of working with all of the major retailers and food manufacturers in the UK.

As a former Board member of the European Spice Association and a current active member of the UK Seasoning and Spice Association, John has broad experience of the issues and challenges which the industry faces. John has travelled extensively to the source countries and is well known amongst many of the leading suppliers.

Combating the Challenges in the Herb and Spice Supply Chain

Presentation Synopsis:

Brands are valuable assets which continue to receive heavy investment. However, it does not take much for a brand to quickly lose both its reputation, trust and therefore value.

John will demonstrate the value of brands using recent case studies from both outside and inside the food industry and the consequences of failure. He will then describe the type of activities which British Pepper and Spice undertake in order to assure the Quality, Food Safety and Authenticity of its products for customers, consumers and brand owners.
